Bella Pineta | Martis | Sardinia | Gone Glamping

Over the May bank holiday we went glamping in Sardinia. It was the best fun! We looked on for luxury camping options in Europe and had only three requirements; sunshine, good food and somewhere remote. No iPhone, iPad or tablets in sight. Well okay that's a slight exaggeration, we needed the sat nav facility on the phone to find our way to the middle of nowhere, the irony! Oh and the ipad for the Sherlock Holmes stories I downloaded and planned to read during our stay. Other than those uses, we agreed to ban technology and would spend quality time with each other adventuring around Sardinia.

Bella Pineta was everything we hoped. The journey from the airport to the glampsite offered the most beautiful scenery I've ever been lucky enough to see. The winding clifftop road guided us through undulating landscape until we reached the simple village of Martis, where we felt instantly at ease as locals gathered drinking and laughing in the sunshine.

Husband and wife team, Chris and Jill have created a peaceful haven that's perfect for city dwellers in search of escapism. Set in a six acre orchard are two bell tents, both completely private of each other. Inside each bell tent was a double bed, wardrobe, blanket box, picnic set and games. We felt extraordinarily comfortable here, sadly so did the insects but thankfully we had a mosquito net surrounding the bed which kept most of the creepy crawlies away at night.

We picked fruit from the orchard for breakfast and dined alfresco overindulging on fresh Italian food.
Each tent had its own picnic area, hammock and sun loungers. We had the best fun exploring the orchard and finding secret nooks to hide away. Martis lives in the shadow of an imposing medieval church that stands at the top of the village. We walked the narrow streets up to the church ruins which was incredible and worth it for the view alone.

Here are some snaps from the trip, it really was the perfect glampsite.
